Velux Sun Tunnels light up Affinity Luxury Flats stairwells.
Affinity Luxury Flats is two LEED certified well buildings under construction in the Cherry Creek neighborhood of Denver, CO. As of 12/19, the west building is complete and the other is nearing completion.
Building two completed Sept 2020.
Our part of the project will be to install three VELUX 22 inch Sun Tunnels in each of the two penthouse apartments. These skylights, sometimes called tube lights or solar tubes, will contribute to the LEED certification of the two buildings.
The challenge:
Cutting a hole in a concrete roof is a labor intensive, dirty job! But necessary.

Once the hole has been cut through the roof it is still necessary to cut a hole through the metal ceiling. Then the curbs, constructed of fire rated lumber, are installed.

The Results:
The completion of the second building was delayed for nearly a year by circumstances beyond our control and was finally completed in September, 2020.
The Sun Tunnels are installed over a stairwell.
