New Acrylic Glazing for Four Polygon Skylights.
The Problems:
Map of the skylight on the building. All communications about what to bid or what to repair is clear and concise.
Operable pyramid skylights with acrylic single layer glazing. Note the rails to each side, allowing the skylight to move completely out of the opening.

The skylights are very old and the original systems weren’t that great from the beginning. The building owner doesn’t want the expense of brand new skylights, but they also don’t want to throw money at something that will not work.
The Solutions
The structural skylights are still doing what they were designed to do; hold the glazing and not collapse into the building.
What the skylights were failing at was allowing water into the building. The exterior glazing cap was not a very good design and re-using the same design would have allowed for the same issue in short order. In other words any repairs were not going to last very long.

Operable Skylight Wet Seal
The larger pyramid is segmented into two halves that electronically slide open, allowing the entire skylight to be clear of the opening.
Again, with budget constraints, it was determined that this particular skylight could get by for now with a wet seal, providing a leak-proof skylight once again.

Before/After:
The before and after picture are in stark contrast to each other, showing the difference it makes.
The manager noted that its just like having brand new skylights again. They can see out again and the best part they don’t leak; which saves a ton of time and money.
