Twenty Velux 22″ Sun Tunnels are being installed at the high school.
Himmelman Construction, the general contractor, hired Skylight Specialists to install the twenty Velux Sun Tunnels at the Green Gables High School located in Lakewood, CO.
The project:
On the roof:
The Sun Tunnel locations have been laid out by others and our technicians cut the openings, taking care to cut the roof membrane so it can be used to wrap the curbs.
We assemble the curbs from fire treated lumber and attach them to the roof deck. Additional material is used to flare the curb away from the opening
The roof membrane is attached to the curb. Roofing tar is applied to the corners and perimeter. Now the Sun Tunnel flashing can be attached, the tubing inserted, the security bars installed.
Attaching the impact resistant SunCurve dome caps off the roof installation
Inside the classrooms:
The Daylight Controller is attached to the end of the tubing. Along with the switch and power supply, this allows the daylight to be controlled—such as during audiovisual presentations.
The suspended ceiling adapter is placed in the grid and the thermal break option connects it to the bottom of the controller ring. This completes the interior installation.
