Two types of polycarbonate – Wide-cell or tight-cell technology
Wide-cell polycarbonate is a pretty common form of glazing material used in sky-lighting. One of it’s problems is that hail can damage the product. The problem is the width of the cells creates a weakness when struck by hail. However, tight-cell polycarbonate has closer spacing of the support structure within the product which absorbs the hail strike without causing any damage. Therefore tight cell technology is stronger and more durable than wide-cell technology.
