If you know a little about the history of commercial construction for malls and other retail buildings in the United States, you would be aware that in the late 70’s there was a building boom that trickled out in the early 80’s. During that building boom there were malls being built all over the country that were designed with natural daylight which was a change from the days of unique underground “dark” malls.
The skylights installed back then have now reached the end of their life span and need replaced. Malls across the country have been gradually performing this process in phases and eventually these malls that are still thriving will have all new skylights. The good news is skylights have improved a lot in the last 30 years which bring more value to the malls such as:
- More energy efficient = money savings
- Designs that add drama to the interior
- Better quality light for even lighting
Additionally, during the 90’s there was another boom with malls being built in the outskirts of metropolitan areas and also the “remodeling” of existing malls to help keep them fresh and new for the consumers. These skylights, depending upon their original quality are being either replaced or repaired.
Either way, we are experts at providing either service, repair or replacement of commercial skylights. We know how to perform the work with the least amount of discomfort to the tenants and public below and in the shortest amount of time on site as possible.
