Translucent Canopy Protects Public from the Elements and Does Not Block Daylight

Transwest Frederick designed a new building for the maintenance and repair of their fleet of trucks in the northern part of the Denver Metro area, along the I-25 corridor. Part of that design required protection from weather on the two main entry doors to the office spaces. Each canopy is unique, with one requiring steel supports and the other all aluminum supports. One is anchored to the concrete with fasteners and one is embedded in the concrete.

What We Did:

  • By using the pre-engineered translucent canopy, the contractor saved time and money.
  • The  translucent canopy allows light to penetrate into the building through the exterior glazing providing more daylight into the interior spaces.

  • 1 CPI Daylighting custom walkway vault CRP, Width 14.00′, Length 10.00′, Rise 1.59′, 145 SF — 16mm Pentaglas Glazing – Aluminum Battens

Results:

  • The CPI Daylighting Clearspan canopies, designed to withstand hurricane force winds, provide an aesthetically pleasing entrance with little to no maintenance requirements.
  • And the reduction of roosting places for birds greatly reduces cleanup expenses.
  • By using the pre-engineered translucent canopy, the contractor saved time and money.
  • The  translucent canopy allows light to penetrate into the building through the exterior glazing providing more daylight into the interior spaces.

  •  Healthy, natural daylight in the space with soft, translucent light and accurate color rendition.
  • No required maintenance or re-coating costs—individual exterior panels  are easily replaced.
