A new addition to the school will include Velux 22″ Sun Tunnels
The Jeffco School District is funding an expansion at the Ken Caryl Middle School with Taylor Kohrs as the General Contractor. The Commercial Division of Skylight Specialists, Inc. will be installing twenty three Velux 22″ Sun Tunnels as a part of the project.
Customized Sun Tunnels
No ordinary tube light to begin with, these Sun Tunnels with the high profile VELUX SunCurve gather more light than ordinary solar tube skylights. In addition, the school district chose the impact resistant dome option for this project. A significant choice for the hail prone front range!
They have been further enhanced with accessories available from Velux.
- Tile Ceiling Diffuser – Frosted.
- Insulating Pane Thermal Break – available for suspended and open ceiling applications to improve energy efficiency.
- Daylight Controller and Controller Switch with Power Supply – for skylight light control using a butterfly device controlled by a switch.
On the roof.
At this point, the roof is a blank slate. 
The Sun Tunnel locations have been built in underneath the roof. 
Fire rater lumber curbs have been built over the openings. 
Roofing is complete as well as the Sun Tunnel flashing and domes.

Inside
Inside, the reflective tubing and suspended ceiling diffusers have been installed. 
The light band near the middle of the tube is the daylight controller. 
A misplaced vent duct necessitates the use of flexible tubing.
