An Inspection leads to a wise decision—Re-seal the skylights,
The Skylights:
One (1) 30’ x 67’ (nominal) glass, ridge, curb mount, skylight.
- Age: 28 years – Original skylight.
- Glazing: Green tinted lowE glass, dual glazed.
Two (2) 14’ x 14’ (nominal) glass, pyramid, curb mount, skylights.
- Age: 28 years – Original skylight.
- Glazing: Green tinted lowE glass, dual glazed.
The Issues:
A comprehensive inspection of the skylights took place on 8/15/2024. Our conclusion was the skylights are in an acceptable condition except for the caulking.
Our recommendation: Continue to monitor for leaks and plan on replacing caulking in the next 2 to 3 years
The Solutions:
We do not take shortcuts when it come to perforning a re-seal of a skylight. We follow the manufacturer’s recommended procedures which they state the seal may be maintained up to 50 years.
