A DoubleTree by Hilton Skylight Inspection and Certification.
An onsite skylight survey and inspection was made on 3/17/2017 by Skylight Specialists, Inc., represented by Rob Packard.
One (1) 8’ x 30’ (nominal) monolithic polycarbonate, barrel vault, structural, original skylight.
- Glazing: Monolithic polycarbonate, clear, single glazed, not fall protected.
- Structure: Adequate spacing and size structural aluminum frame.
- Anchors: Adequate anchor size and count around perimeter.
- Curbs: Adequate height and flashing in good shape.
- Evaluation: The polycarbonate glazing is beyond its life span, including yellowing and cracks which have formed at the edges.
- Flashing: Metal flashing; adequate in condition.
- Rating: 3 of 10
- Expected Life Span: 1-3 years.
- Recommendation: Replace the glazing material. Reuse existing framing and caps.
Two (2) 5’ x 30’ (nominal) glass, single slope, structural, original skylight.
- Glazing: Glass, laminate, clear, single glazed, fall protected.
- Structure: Adequate spacing and size structural aluminum frame.
- Anchors: Adequate anchor size and count around perimeter.
- Curbs: Adequate height.
- Evaluation: Skylight is in adequate shape except for the glazing that was broken during the inspection. Inspector required access to evaluate the barrel vault skylight above the single sloped skylight and was walking on the caps which should have prevented glass from breaking.
- Flashing: Metal flashing; adequate in condition.
- Rating: 8 of 10

One (1) 28’ x 28’ (nominal) glass, octagon, structural, original skylight.
- Glazing: Glass, laminate, clear, single glazed, fall protected.
- Structure: Adequate spacing and size structural aluminum frame.
- Anchors: Adequate anchor size and count around perimeter.
- Curbs: Adequate height.
- Flashing: Adequate height.
- Evaluation: This skylight should never need replaced; however, some work may need to be done on the flashing to roof connection. The flashing/tile connection may require maintenance or re-work if leaks are noticed around the base. The skylight has been wet sealed and is in basically good condition although it could use a good cleaning of the glass.
