The Stagecoach Elementary School Gets Natural Daylight with New Building
The groundbreaking for the new Sweetwater County School District #1 Stagecoach Elementary School started July 21st, 2014, and scheduled to open for the start of the school year in 2015.
School Daylighting
Daylighting has been shown in many studies to help students learning and performance in schools. One study (Daylighting in Schools) shows a 20% improvement in reading and math scores when skylights are installed compared to classrooms with minimal daylight. When skylights and windows are installed together, the improvement increases to 26%. Knowing this, the architect of the school designed the building with one Quadwall Ridge Skylight and seven CPI Quadwall Wall Lights.
We began work in mid May of 2015 and completed our installation several days later. The campus finished on time and now the teachers and students love the natural daylight and are enjoying the new building. As an added bonus, the panels also offer great thermal insulation for the school, especially important in the snowy winter month, with a U value of approximately 0.08.
