Bringing Daylight into a Child’s Learning Environment with a Barrel Vault Skylight Installation.

Daylighting in Schools

Construction of the new Children’s Learning Adventure in Centennial, Colorado, located in the SE Denver Metro area, has been completed on schedule. The skylight installation is essentially identical to our Parker, CO project.

The low-rise barrel vault skylight installation was scheduled to install the week of August 24, however we completed it by August 13th.

Barrel vault skylights are a great skylight because of the natural design of the arch.  Arches support weight without having large structural members. Therefore, the cost is low for this design and the performance is high. Water and snow easily flow off the glazing and away from the skylight without clogging from debris, etc.

What We Did:

• We supplied and installed three CPI Daylighting curb mount barrel vault skylights.
• The contractor supplied site built engineered lumber curbs that will resist the loads and thrusts imposed by the skylights.
• The amount of time for our crew to install these Direct2Fab skylights (four days) was a pleasant surprise for the contractor. We strive to keep our contractors either on or ahead of schedule.

  (2) 11′ x 31′ CPI Daylighting curb mount barrel vault skylight
• Glazing to be 2.75″ Quadwall nano-celled polycarbonate panels specially formulated to suit the demanding performance requirements for panel thicknesses, fire performance and co-extruded UV protection.
• Direct2Fab (formerly Fastrak) is a fast delivery program for custom sized skylights from CPI Daylighting. Each D2F project moves directly from order entry to the fabrication floor— eliminating weeks of engineering and submittal time.
